week 0, monday

[outdistanced]

[ gently sets this one for monday it's fine. he's poking through the phone, seeing what's available. ]

They really didn't give us much on these things. [ squints. ] What's "Spotify?"

[smokeandglasses]

[He's going to open it up to see for himself.]

Oh, this looks like one of those music apps that has been becoming popular lately. I haven't used one much, but if I remember correctly it's so you can listen to music. It's kind of like a radio, but you can set the songs that are on the playlist.

[outdistanced]

"Lately?" I've never heard of it.

...And I don't know any of these songs, either.

[smokeandglasses]

I've come to realize that time doesn't seem to matter here, and that people are being pulled from the past and future regardless. Some are even from other worlds, I think. So not hearing about music apps isn't too strange, you might just be from a time before it's invented.

[Or from another world entirely.

He's now fiddling with the music app to find a specific band.]

week 0, sunday

[outdistanced]

[ he's just huddled somewhere, head in hands, but when he hears someone approaching, laurence hurriedly tries to straighten up. ]

That... wasn't what I expected to happen. At all.

[smokeandglasses]

[Oh...

Ali's first instinct is to run right over and comfort Laurence, but he hesitates. That might not be what Laurence needs, and it would be overstepping if he just suddenly started fussing over him.

(Laurence is close to the same age as Chance, Ali thinks. That's why he worries so much.)

So instead he'll stand close and talk to Laurence, to give him a chance to open up on his own.]

I didn't expect that either. [...] Are you alright?

[outdistanced]

How could anyone be okay after that?

[ lashes out but not necessarily at ali. he's just very freaked out, all things considered. THE WAY I HAD THIS HALF-WRITTEN AND THEN CHAT HAPPENED. ANYWAY.

he shakes his head. ]

No. But it's over, so... that's what matters.

week 1, saturday

[outdistanced]

[ ali will be able to find laurence walking restlessly. ]

I didn't think it would get worse from last week.

[ his voice is still a bit hoarse... he tugs a little at the vines on his neck as if to loosen them. ]

[smokeandglasses]

[Vines...]

And somehow it did.

[Two deaths...this better not become a pattern. If it does, there's going to be less than 10 people left by the end.]

Do you need help with those vines?

[outdistanced]

[ grimaces. ]

I don't get it. They said Dan - Brimstone? Was trying to change.

[ where's the sense in it? but at that question, he shakes his head. ]

It's... well, I don't think we can do anything about it. They've been here all week.

Week 2, Monday

[smokeandglasses]

[He's going to start as normal for now. But he is a little embarrassed about what happened earlier, so.]

You didn't see any of that, did you?

[outdistanced]

See what?

[ not being coy, he genuinely doesn't know. ]

[smokeandglasses]

[A pause, as he gauges Laurence's reaction. He decides to shift his answer to something else.]

The new locations, I mean.

Week 2, Saturday

[smokeandglasses]

[He's just going to find Laurence right after the trial.]

Hey, thank you for working so hard today.

[outdistanced]

[ he's still looking a bit shaken, so he's just walking restlessly to work out the anxious energy. ]

I didn't do that much. I was just lucky to have found something useful.

[smokeandglasses]

[He wants to say that, regardless of luck, Laurence did well. He wants to ask about who Iris is, and why it's so important he left the Tower. Instead, he asks something else entirely:]

What's it like in the Tower?

Week 3, Monday

[smokeandglasses]

[Ali is navigating the maze, trying to find an exit, when he comes across Laurence. He immediately stops to check in.]

Oh, did you get stuck too?

[The memories have not started yet, but they will be soon.]

[outdistanced]

Every time. We should've kept the maps the angels had.

[smokeandglasses]

Alas, hindsight is 20/20. Let's look for an exit, shall we?

[Though even now the mirrors are starting to change. Ali looks calm, if a bit off-put by the situation, but his reflection looks enraged.]

week 3, saturday

[outdistanced]

[ catch him wandering aimlessly, twisting that same bottle of water in his hands over and over. he looks unhappy, distracted, and doesn't seem to notice ali approaching just yet. ]

[smokeandglasses]

[LAURENCE...

Yeah he's going to come right over and walk by Laurence.]

Want to do something?

[He's thinking that Laurence might need to take his mind off of what happened.]

[outdistanced]

[ he looks... skeptical. ]

Like what?

Week 7, Monday

[YAY EVERYONE IS BACK!]

Hello again. At least this time we don't have to dress like maids, right?

Ugh. Don't say that to Till. He keeps thinking about people in those outfits for some stupid reason.

Maybe we went to his world. It certainly looked nothing like mine.
