[He's going to open it up to see for himself.]

Oh, this looks like one of those music apps that has been becoming popular lately. I haven't used one much, but if I remember correctly it's so you can listen to music. It's kind of like a radio, but you can set the songs that are on the playlist.

I've come to realize that time doesn't seem to matter here, and that people are being pulled from the past and future regardless. Some are even from other worlds, I think. So not hearing about music apps isn't too strange, you might just be from a time before it's invented.

[Or from another world entirely.

He's now fiddling with the music app to find a specific band.

[There is some recognition in his eyes, but he quickly realizes a problem: the same word can mean different things. And even then, the word in his world is slightly different]

Well, it's close to a term I know. But just to be sure: what is a demiflora in your world?

[Ah, so not quite. He shakes his hand.]

We have Floras. They're tied to nature and thrive in forests and meadows. I've seen them sometimes in big parks in cities, but that typically isn't a big enough space for more than one or two of them.

What you call 'demiflora' is something else entirely in my world.

People are people, regardless of what they look like. All humans are people, but not all people are humans.

[It's a very important distinction in his mind.]

There's individual names for each species besides humans in my world, but they all fall under one umbrella term: Immortals. Which is honestly a bit misleading, they're not really immortal at all. All can be killed in some way, it's just that most have longer lifespans than humans.

[He shrugs.]

Different worlds, different people. I don't blame you for trying to find people from your own world though.

...it's probably for the best, yeah.

[Whoo boy something related to that has been on Ali's mind since day 1, but he's been quiet about it so far.]

I do still wonder what we need to do. From my talk with the angels, it sounded like our purpose here was to come to terms with our death and prepare for whatever comes after.

I don't think therapy is going to fix what's wrong with several of the people here.

[Like Dan. Or whoever keeps breaking stuff. Or Dan.]

Mmm, that is the general consensus. Something like "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink."

That is exceedingly true, yes.

[Some people here are beyond hope.]
