[Laurence now what the hell are we doing back here, is this not the 235345 time we've respectively ended up in the funhouse today?

Whatever take this I don't want it.]

[Richie grimaces. His fingers tuck beneath his glasses to push at his eyes a moment, simmer down. In between that he huffs, gently incredulous. Read between the lines, kid.]

Same thing that pulls up all the old ghosts come expulsion time. Or jerks us around here, defying all laws of physics and reason there ever were.

Good ol' hocus pocus. As it were.

I'm normal. [He looks to him, glasses dropping back into place.] That fucking thing isn't. It wasn't supposed to be there.

[There was a great deal of difference, he felt, in knowing what the stakes were. What the rules were of your own existence. People here were raised in their magic, their sci-fi whiz bang boom, and maybe things still went pear-shaped for them but it wasn't enough to fry their brains on impact.

It's quite another to go on believing one thing all your life and one day, some twisted, incomprehensible fuck from beyond slams a supernatural brick into your face. Water was wet and the sky was blue, but monsters are real, kid. Sucks to be you.]

...Yeah. We bandaged up Bill's fingers just fine. He's lucky he didn't lose them.

[Laurence your life....help....]

I suppose it is. [Richie's loathe to speak too much on it, but the cat's been let out of the bag several times over by now. He just hates it.

Oh, sure sure, they are far and away from Derry and all its damnable delights now. But this place just loved to dig up your old bones, didn't it? Is it worse to warn people, give them exactly the level of detail that would draw It's attention? Or worse to say nothing, and leave them with nothing if something happens?

Richie looks to Laurence, who is maybe too old for It's typical taste, but not nearly old enough to skate past it. Not that anyone could completely. His chest squeezes, and he says what he thinks he can.]

It didn't come from earth, I don't think. But It's been there a long time. And it can do a lot of things. It pulls shapes from your mind — things that scare you, or you've been thinking about. And it wears that shape to kill you.

It can't be seen unless It wants you to see it, either. It's... [His lips purse together.] Maybe it won't matter, but if something shows up here that looks like that? Behaves the way that thing does? You run from it. Don't try fighting it. It doesn't play by the rules.
