You mean like that "Spotify" app on the phone? [ will spotify still be around in twenty years... i say no so richie has to feel old again. ] We don't need a whole stage for that, though.
[ follows just enough to peer in after him. what's he looking for... ]
[ looks at these vinyls. looks at richie's halo. looks back at the vinyls. genuinely who knows if these exist in ctc i am making things up as i go along ]
You know, you call them phones, but they're feeling more like titchy little computers every minute. You can type and talk on them, you can, what, put music on them, you say?
[Fuck-ing hell. His head is sparking with the possibilities.]
It isn't. [Or it shouldn't be.] Want to test a few out? You got a favourite genre?
They're simple as pie. Come over here, I'll show you. [Alternative...to what? In his day and age it might mean one thing, but in his it's probably another. He lifts a box out for him, several options therein.] Pick out something. Whatever catches your eye.
[voids them. Richie hasn't gotten much peace since the announcement, but he's still making a point to talk to whoever he finds. Kids first, instinctively, which is why he stops short when crossing paths with Laurence.]
[ he's looking a little out of it this morning, often glancing at his phone as if something might change at any minute. surprised, he starts and slips his phone back into a pocket. ]
I don't know. I didn't really have anywhere in mind after... you know.
[yeah he's moving in with your mom next week (finds out she's actually dead next tag)]
He would. [Oh that Yves.]
I saw Zhongli doing a couple rounds out there with his polearm too, so yeah, maybe steer clear until further notice.
...Nobody's found anything yet. As far as I know. We should... [God. How to phrase this? It's not like he's trying to treat anyone delicately, but he's still young. He doesn't care to make the kid even more ill at ease. Richie wets his lips and tries again.]
We should be prepared to not get enough answers, too. The way this all played out...people being locked up. Conking out. Her starting at the mansion and ending at the beach, alone, unnoticed, with the rest of us immobilized. The overseers being out of the loop too?
There's some fishy possibilities. And we might get information withheld from us. Just keep a sharp eye and a keen ear to what you see and hear.
Just that we might be dealing with people who don't have our best intentions at heart. Whether they're the ones we've met, or ones we haven't.
Something set up the perfect conditions for that girl to get hurt. Everyone locked up and knocked out, no working phones. She couldn't have gotten help if she tried.
You think this might've been planned? But that's... That doesn't sound like something any of us could do. And the angels have just been trying to help us.
Look, I don't mean it's one of us or even one of them, not for sure. All right? And maybe it's nobody. Maybe it was a bad accident. Caught in the tide, bad fall. Anything. I don't care to cast suspicion where it doesn't need to be, especially without more facts.
Just keep an open mind. And think about how this all played out — what we know so far.
[He counts it off on his fingers.]
We were all mysteriously locked in somewhere for the bulk of the evening last night. Our phones stopped working, no call or text functions available. We all fell asleep, seemingly simultaneously. And when Charlie left — left a room with ten other people in it, one of whom had seemed to have some degree of claustrophobia — Charlie didn't wake any of them up. Didn't take anyone with her, not even by dragging us out.
When did that girl ever not volunteer herself for anything we needed? She wouldn't have left people behind. Not by choice.
It's a weird set of circumstances. So, we need to be prepared that we'll find some weird answers. Nothing to get rash about right now, but just...steel yourself.
I don't know... she might have tried to handle it by herself if she thought there was danger. Especially if everyone was still out cold.
[ part of taking care of everyone, isn't it? she seemed to care a little less about herself than about all those around her. he's not arguing with richie, though - he has a point, it's just not one that laurence was prepared to think about. ]
Maybe you're right. It is all really weird. [ but where does that leave them? even more lost and confused? ] But I don't understand what that could mean. It's Heaven. Shouldn't it be safe? And if we don't get answers, or it's just... weird answers, what is anyone supposed to do about it?
[ he left the execution immediately. it's a lot to process, watching someone be killed right before your eyes. he's still reeling, but he's marginally steadier now that he's had some alone. still not great, though, but he's got a bottle of ginger ale to sip on, at least. ]
At least it's over now.
[ they got the right guy and now he's been... expelled from heaven. that's all they needed to do. none of them would do this again. ]
That it is. Cold comfort for JQ, but...he made it out in one piece.
[Relatively speaking. Richie has a proper beer with him, sorry he needs something stronger than a ginger ale. He cracks the top open and there's that delicious hiss, serenading him as he takes his spot next to the kid.]
Are you feeling all right? I know it's been all the worst case scenarios, from start to finish.
