Hmm. Well, I didn't know much about rock music before but I've been learning and there's this one that I heard and liked. It's like this-

[He leans over and plays Your Song flawlessly and without sheet music.]

[ just gonna come over and watch him play with awe. ]

Wow. You can just play it entirely from memory like that? You really are amazing.

It's just something I could always do. If I can hear a song, I can usually play the basic melody. Maybe a few notes dropped here or there.

I think you could drop notes and it wouldn't even matter. It sounded great. You should definitely play more.

You know, you're a lot more thoughtful than I realized at first. You've been trying really hair to help me out this week, haven't you?

[Just going to puddle at the gentle gesture and idly try and take his other hand. He doesn't want their date to turn somber.]

I'm trying to learn those sorts of things. I didn't like what happened to you and I wanted to try and fix it even though I know it's something that cannot be fixed. It can only be healed.

Well, I think you're doing a good job of it. I know it's frustrating not to be able to do anything else, but I still appreciated it.

[ surprised and a little flustered... he blushes. it’s such a sweet idea, though! even if he’d be so, so embarrassed. ]

It’s hard to see anyone hurting. And we don’t get a lot of time here where someone isn’t.

[he reaches out and takes Laurence's hand.]

I know. And maybe that song can help you through those times too.

[ he gives a quiet, airy laugh as kaworu takes his hand. a little nervous, maybe. ]

Sounds like a lot to ask given how much time we have left. [ just a few weeks, now. ] But if you did write something like that, I think it really would help when it gets harder around here. Something good to hold onto, you know?

You didn't ask. It's something I'm trying to do for you.

[running his hands over Laurence's knuckles affectionately.]

I know. And that is why I want to try and do it even though there's not much time left. I want you to have a piece of my affection to hold onto no matter what.
