[ mood though laurence mostly wanders the town when he's restless. maybe goes for a run. but he pauses when he finds chrono pacing, watching for just a moment before speaking up. ]

[ less of a question and more of a "yeah i get it, man." he never did like to pretend things were fine when they clearly aren't. ]

[ chrono startles, clearly miles away, then blinks at laurence and practically explodes. ]

You can say that again. [ voice still a little bit hoarse from the vines around his throat but it's fine. ] This whole thing is screwed up, even without throwing self-defense into the mix. Seriously, answering murder with more murder?

[ he hates it here tomorrow's going to be so bad too he just knows it ]

What kind of messed up ruling system is this, anyway?! And those "angels" just say nothing, even though they've known about it since before us.

[ and as has been the case, recently, he's burned out already. finds a couch and just collapses onto it. ]

I don't think they can talk about it, or they would. They stuck with it just like us.

Yeah, it does. The only good thing about it is that we're not expelling someone who was trying to defend herself... but even then, someone's still dead.

[ he didn't even like dan/brimstone, but he didn't want the guy to die, either. ]

[ he keeps his mouth shut about the angels. he's still on the fence about how mad he should be at them. ]

It's way too suspicious that those things happened on the same night, isn't it?

Yeah. If they're right about Mr. Hawke and Mr. Yuan having some kind of sickness, that's one thing. But D- Brimstone is the weird one. He could have attacked someone any night, unless he was just waiting to see who he'd be stuck with that night.

[ frowns, staring up at the ceiling. ]

Couple of people insisted he wasn't actually like that, though. Guy seemed to have a short fuse, but to go to that kind've extreme?

He has murder on his profile. [ just saying. ] And they said he was trying to change, but it's only been two weeks. That's hardly enough time for anyone to have a whole 180 in personality.

[ puts his face in his hands. ]

I don't know, either. I'm just saying, it's not like it's impossible he did exactly what Ms. Firefly said.

[ it still leaves a bad taste in his mouth, but it's not like they have anything else to go off of.

...chrono surprises him by asking about the vines, though, and he absently reaches up to pull at them a little bit. ]

It hurts a little bit, but it'll probably go away eventually.

I want to believe Ms. Firefly, too. It's better to trust people.

his head kind of rolls heavily to the side to squint at the vines in question. his own ticking gears have slowed to a lethargic pace. ]

D'you know what kind of plant they're from?

It would be easier if we didn't have to have these trials at all.

Not sure. It's not one I recognize, but I only know the plants demiflora are named after. [ ... ] They don't have thorns now, so it's not as bad as before.

[ half-lifts a hand, but thinks better of it. ]

You can't pull them off?

[ shrugs. ]

It's like your... [ gestures vaguely at chrono's gears and clockwork parts. ] It doesn't go away. I just have to deal with it. It's not usually bad, for whatever that's worth.

It looks kinda cool, y'know. Plants. One of my friends could've probably told you what it is, but I don't know anythin' about 'em either.

[ shrugs. his own transformation being pointed out has his expression flatten a little. ]

The ticking's annoying.

[ snorts. ]

Just ‘cause I’m a demiflora... [ fantasy racism smh. ] I think this place just decided to make me eat my words when I told people I’m not really part plant.
