Hardly more than a day after that horrible assembly, you're wandering the halls at night. Everything is peaceful, almost weirdly so after that day, until you hear voices, and see the usual hints of a very familiar, very unfortunate demiflora ability.
"You're sure this'll work?"
"How long do you think I've lived here?"
Wait, that's...
"Iris?" you ask, turning a corner to find him with the pink-eyed man, the Tower intruder. Iris has already drawn a shaft into the wall, and that man is sitting in it, ready to go. He turns to stare at you, and you stare back in utter shock. "You... What are you doing?"
The intruder pulls a knife, and you take a half-step back in fear.
"No," Iris says, raising a hand to stop him. Bandages cover his arms, but the marks you can still see - somehow they've healed already. "He's fine."
"...Iris? You're leaving with... him?"
He's always wanted to leave the Tower. Even when you were kids, stargazing from the Skydome, he's always wondered how different it would be to see them from outside. You'd still have to hear about it sometimes, even after your friendship had fallen apart.
But to leave with an intruder? A man who'd put everyone in the Tower in danger, who he couldn't have met more than a few days ago?
He doesn't answer you. He simply turns away while the pink-eyed man grumbles, and they both climb into the shaft to leave. With a soft woosh, the familiar wisps of Iris power drift into the air, and the shaft disappears, leaving nothing but marker where it had been just a moment before. For a long moment, you stare at it in disbelief.
And then you grit your teeth, pull your jacket sleeve up, and wipe the marker away until there's barely a smudge left before turning to head back to your room. After what Madam did a few days ago, maybe it's for the best that he's leaving, even with that guy. Whatever's out there, whatever the spawncampers might do... at least they aren't Madam.
